This usually means your Social Security number (SSN) is already linked to a NerdWallet account using a different email address in our system.
If you’ve previously used our app, you'll want to make sure you're using the same information if you sign in on our website.
You also might have created an account when you went through pre-qualification forms on different parts of the site (like our personal loan matching form, for example).
You can only have your SSN linked to one NerdWallet account, so if you don't know the login information for the referenced other account, you'll want to close that account.
If you do know the login information for the referenced account, you can either choose to use that account or close it and use your new one.
If you know the email address for the other account but not the password, you can regain access by resetting the password. Go to nerdwallet.com/forgot-password, enter the other account's email address, and follow the instructions. Once you've set a password, you can log in and close that account yourself.
If you do not recognize the other account at all and don't know the email address associated with it, ask to speak with a teammate so they can help close it for you.
