Financial institutions offer different types of accounts to their customers. When you’re linking your bank account to your NerdWallet account, you might see more than one option when you search for your bank by name.
If you aren’t sure which option to pick from the list, there are a few ways to figure out which might be the correct right one:
- Try matching the URL of the page you usually use to log in on your bank’s website with the URL under the bank’s name in our database.
- If your bank’s icon is displayed in the initial pop up window after you click on link account, try clicking its icon first.
- If you need to search for the bank by name, try selecting the first or second option that populates after the search.
- Be sure that you’re choosing the right type of account. For example, if you’re trying to link a credit card account from ABC Bank, be sure to select “ABC Bank credit card” from the list of options that populates after your search, if it’s available.
The example below shows the results that appear if you search for “TD.” If you typically visit “https://onlinebanking.tdbank.com” to log into your checking and savings accounts, you’ll want to choose the top option to link those accounts to your NerdWallet account.
If you’re still unable to select the right bank account to link to your NerdWallet account after following these steps, send us an email at support@nerdwallet.com with the bank name and type of account, and we’ll help you figure out the right option to choose.
