How to Edit Your Net Worth Details in the NerdWallet App

Summary:
You can easily add, edit, or delete assets and debts (liabilities) that aren’t connected to your financial accounts, so your net worth reflects your full financial picture.

How to Manually Add Assets or Liabilities

  1. Open the NerdWallet app.

  2. From the HOME tab, scroll to the account type you want to link or add manually.

  3. TAP link an account in that section.

  4. TAP ADD AN ACCOUNT MANUALLY.

  5. Follow the on-screen steps to enter details for your asset (something you own) or liability (something you owe).

How to Edit or Delete Manual Accounts

  • Edit:
TAP on the account you want to update, TAP EDIT, make your changes, then TAP SAVE.

  • Delete:
TAP on the account, TAP EDIT, then TAP DELETE to remove it from your net worth.

Note: Manually added accounts can be changed or deleted at any time, but they cannot be excluded from your total net worth calculation.

Want to Hide Linked Accounts Instead?

If you’d like to hide accounts that are linked automatically (like your bank or credit card), see our step-by-step guide here.

How is Net Worth Calculated?

To calculate your net worth, NerdWallet adds up all the balances in your linked checking, savings, investment, retirement accounts, then subtracts what you owe from your linked credit cards and loan accounts (including mortgages) to arrive at your Net Worth.

Your Net Worth can also include your home value, if you've added your home as an asset through your NerdWallet account. In addition, you can feel free to add multiple properties and other assets (cars, boats, etc.) to be included in your net worth total.
