If you currently reside in a US Territory, which includes but is not limited to: Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, Samoa, and the Mariana Islands, you may experience an error when attempting to connect your credit score via our mobile app.
The good news is, as long as you have a social security number (SSN) and enough credit history, you should be able to access your score through NerdWallet. However, since you're located in a US Territory, you'll want to try linking your score on the web version of NerdWallet using any modern web browser rather than the mobile app as our app isn't able to offer that option at this time.
To see your credit score from a web or mobile browser (not the NerdWallet app):
- Log in to your account from this page.
- Navigate to the credit score page in one of three ways:
- Hover over the nine-dot menu in the top right corner, then select Credit score from the dropdown menu.
- Click on your Credit score card toward the top of the Home screen.
- Click this link to get there directly.
- Click the green Get your free credit score button.
- You'll then be prompted to answer a series of questions to verify your identity. Answer these as accurately as you can.
- After submitting the last four digits of your Social Security number, check I agree if you accept the terms and conditions below, then tap Continue.
- At this point you may be prompted to answer additional questions. After this you'll be directed to your credit score.
Important Information
The credit score and report that NerdWallet members can access free through NerdWallet is based on connecting to an individual's Social Security Number.
Unfortunately, because our verification method with TransUnion is tied to an individual's Social Security Number, it's not possible for us to provide your credit score using an ITIN or other methods, at this time.
You should also know...
- Viewing your credit score on NerdWallet won't hurt your score, no matter how often you check it.
- If you have connected to your score before on a different email address, you won't be able to connect a second time. A message will appear that says "We already have this credit account on file." Sign out and sign in with the correct email address.
- You may be asked for additional identifying information if TransUnion has trouble finding your credit profile.
- If you encounter an error message or other problems with viewing your credit information, reach out to us at support@nerdwallet.com. We'll help you find a solution!
