If you’d like to get your free TransUnion VantageScore 3.0 using your NerdWallet account, you’ll need to connect your NerdWallet account to your TransUnion credit profile. When you do this, you may run into a message saying that your account has been blocked because your identity could not be verified, and that you can try again in 30 days.
Why is my account blocked?
NerdWallet partners with TransUnion (one of the three major credit bureaus in the United States) to share our registered users' credit information with them through our site. To protect the security of our community, TransUnion requires everyone to go through an identity authentication process before providing access to credit scores and reports.
This process includes asking you to answer security questions, which are based on your personal information. To verify your identity they compare the answers you provided to their security questions with the information they have on file on about you on their end.
If you've received a message that you’ve been blocked for 30 days, this means that your answers to the questions might not match what TransUnion has in its records. As a result, TransUnion cannot verify your identity, and will not provide access to the information in your credit profile.
You are required to wait for 30 days before you can try again to connect your NerdWallet account to your TransUnion credit profile. This is not something NerdWallet employees are able to override.
Make sure TransUnion’s information about you is correct
Credit bureaus sometimes have outdated personal information about you, which may be the reason they think you're answering questions about yourself incorrectly. You can contact TransUnion directly to make sure the information they have on file for you is accurate and up-to-date. You can find their contact information here.
