You can view all of your bank account balances in one place by linking them to your NerdWallet account. This allows you to easily track your balances and see in which categories you’re spending the most.
To link a bank account using the NerdWallet app
- Tap the circle menu icon at the top right corner of your screen.
- Tap Financial Info then Linked Financial Institutions.
- Tap Add Your First Account.
- You'll be prompted to enter a phone number to receive a confirmation code.
- Enter your mobile phone number, then click Next. You'll then receive a text containing a verification code.
- Enter your verification code, then click Next.
- Enter your bank’s name into the search bar or select your bank from the listed options.
- You’ll then be asked to provide your login credentials for that financial institution. Enter your username and password for the account you’d like to link.
- Tap Link account. You’ll then see a screen that says, “Verifying your credentials.” Depending on your bank, you may then be asked to receive a security code or other form of multi-factor authentication.
- If your account links successfully, you’ll see a screen that says, “Your account has been successfully linked to NerdWallet.” Tap Continue.
To link a bank account from a mobile or desktop browser (not the app)
- Sign in to your NerdWallet account here.
- Navigate to the Cash flow section of your account. You can find this page by moving your cursor over the My NerdWallet menu in the upper right hand corner and selecting Cash flow under the My Money section.
- Click the green button that says Link Your First Account on the left-hand side of the screen. Then click Continue from the pop-up window.
- Type your bank’s name into the search bar or select your bank from the listed options.
- You'll be prompted to enter a phone number to receive a confirmation code.
- Enter your mobile phone number, then click Next. You'll then receive a text containing a verification code.
- Enter your verification code, then click Next.
- You’ll then be asked to provide your login credentials for that financial institution. Type in your username and password for the account you’d like to link.
- Click Submit. You’ll then see a screen that says, “sending credentials” and "authorizing with our server." Linking the account can take a few minutes; be sure not to click out of this window.
- You may then be asked to receive a security code or other form of multi-factor authentication. Enter your code or the answer to your security question when prompted.
- If your account links successfully, you’ll see a screen that says, “Your account has been successfully linked to NerdWallet.” Click Continue.
Once an account is linked, you can then view your spending and transactions any time by logging in to your NerdWallet account and clicking on the Cash Flow section.
