Adding money to one of your Atomic accounts (Cash, Investment, Treasury) through the NerdWallet app is simple. Whether you're making a one-time deposit or setting up recurring deposits, here's what you need to know about the process, timelines, and how to manage your deposits.
How to make a deposit
To add funds to your Atomic account:
Open the NerdWallet app and select the Atomic account you want to deposit into.
Tap Add funds.
Choose either One-Time or Recurring.
Enter your deposit amount.
Select the bank account you'd like to deposit from. If you have multiple linked accounts, tap the bank name to view them. The last four digits of each account number are displayed to help you choose the correct one.
Review your deposit details.
Tap Confirm Deposit.
Recurring deposits are currently available on a monthly schedule.
How long do deposits take?
After you submit a deposit, it typically takes 2 to 3 business days for your bank to approve the transfer and for the funds to be delivered to your Atomic account through the ACH network.
If your deposit remains pending longer than expected, it may be due to:
Insufficient available funds in your bank account
A hold placed by your bank on the funds being transferred
If a transfer fails, Atomic will automatically retry it a limited number of times before canceling the deposit.
Can I cancel a deposit?
If your deposit was just submitted, you may be able to cancel it before it's sent to your bank.
To cancel an eligible deposit:
Open your Atomic account in the NerdWallet app.
Scroll to Latest Activity.
Tap the right arrow or View All Activity.
Select the deposit transaction.
Tap Cancel Transaction.
If you don't see the Cancel Transaction option, the deposit has already been sent to your bank and can no longer be canceled.
What happens if I don't have enough money in my bank account?
If your linked bank account doesn't have enough available funds, one of two things will typically happen:
The deposit will be canceled due to insufficient funds, or
The deposit will complete initially and then be reversed by your bank within 2 to 3 business days.
If a deposit is reversed, the reversal is initiated by your bank. If you have questions about the returned funds, please contact your bank directly.
Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
How do I manage recurring deposits?
You can edit, pause, or cancel recurring deposits in the NerdWallet app.
Edit a recurring deposit
Open your Atomic account.
Scroll to Recurring Deposits.
Tap View All Recurring Deposits.
Select Edit.
Update the deposit amount or the linked bank account.
Pause or cancel a recurring deposit
Open your Atomic account.
Scroll to Recurring Deposits.
Tap View All Recurring Deposits.
Tap the More menu (three dots).
Select Pause or Cancel recurring deposit.
Paused recurring deposits can be resumed by going back to the View All Recurring Deposits menu, tapping on the deposit, then tapping resume under the More menu.
Canceling a recurring deposit stops all future scheduled deposits associated with that recurring plan.
