If you are seeing a message that your phone number is invalid for SMS/text verification, the most likely reason is that you’ve provided a phone number that’s not from a traditional, U.S.-based mobile phone carrier. We’re not able to accept phone numbers from outside the U.S. at this time, or phone numbers that come from wi-fi-based carriers, such as Google voice or Republic Wireless.
If you don’t have access to a mobile phone number that meets these criteria, you won’t be able to link your account to NerdWallet at this time. We are working on finding alternatives to SMS verification for our members who are in this situation.
