When you link your credit profile to your NerdWallet account, you may receive a message that your identity cannot be verified. This will prevent you from being able to view your TransUnion VantageScore 3.0 credit score and credit report in your NerdWallet account.
Viewing your credit score with your NerdWallet account
NerdWallet partners with TransUnion, one of the three major credit bureaus in the United States, to make credit scores and reports available to our users through their NerdWallet accounts. To protect the security of our users, TransUnion requires everyone to go through an identity authentication process before making credit information available to them. TransUnion does this by comparing the answers you provide to their security questions with the information they have on file about you.
If your identity cannot be verified, this indicates that TransUnion is unable to confirm that you are who you say you are. This can happen when you do not have any credit history, or when the information you provided about yourself does not match TransUnion’s records.
Next steps
If you’re new to credit, you can try viewing your score again once you’ve had a chance to build your credit profile. Check out this NerdWallet article for tips on how to get started.
If you have an established credit history but are unable to view your credit information using your NerdWallet account, you may want to contact TransUnion directly to ensure that the information they have about you is accurate and up-to-date. Credit bureaus sometimes have outdated personal information about consumers, which may cause confusion during the identity verification process. You can find TransUnion’s contact information here.
