Why does NerdWallet say my phone number is invalid for SMS verification?
If you see a message that your phone number is invalid for SMS (text message) verification, it usually means the number does not meet NerdWallet’s eligibility requirements.
What phone numbers are eligible for SMS verification?
To complete SMS verification, you must use a phone number that meets all of the following criteria:
A U.S.-based phone number
From a traditional mobile carrier
Able to receive standard SMS text messages
What phone numbers are not supported?
NerdWallet does not currently accept:
Phone numbers from outside the United States
Phone numbers from Wi-Fi–based or virtual carriers, including:
Google Voice
Republic Wireless
Other similar internet-based services
What happens if I don’t have an eligible phone number?
If you do not have access to an eligible U.S.-based mobile phone number, you will not be able to link your account to NerdWallet.
What should I do if my number seems eligible but still doesn’t work?
If you believe your phone number meets all requirements and you are still seeing an error, contact NerdWallet Support:
