Credit Inquiries
In the past two years I've expanded my rewards credit cards and currently I have 4 hard inquiries in the last two years (one will fall off in January but another won't fall off until August 2021) and 2 in the last 12 months. My credit score is still in the excellent range because my utilization is usually around 1-5%. Here's my dilemma: in the next 12 months, I'm looking at most likely getting a new personal car and applying for a loan, and might also be applying for a mortgage next summer so I'm expecting two more hard inquiries in the next year. At the same time, my small business (sole proprietorship) really needs a credit card so I can keep monthly costs separate. I know that applying for a business card will be another inquiry on my credit, so I'm worried that if I do it I'll have too many inquiries in the last 2 years by the time I apply for a mortgage next summer (would be 5 by then) and not get as good of a rate. Should I get the business credit card or put it off another year?
