First Time With Bank Accounts/Job
Hello, I'm sorry if this question isn't really where it's supposed to be. None of the other categories really felt fitting for this.
I am 22, I have never had a job. I have never owned a car, a house, a bank account, credit/debit cards, nothing. I am in college, still living with my parents. I have been searching around for a job that I can do from home, like freelancing or customer service, etc. Especially now since it is not possible to get a 9-5 job, an office job, etc. where I live. I have tried applying for a bank account with Varo and they denied me. I'm sure it's from me not having any source of income or from my credit score. The reason why I tried Varo in the first place is because I'm scared of not being able to pay credit card payments on time. I am not sure I will be able to keep a minimum in a bank account to keep it from getting messed up. I wanted to go with a bank that would be a little more lenient on those types of things. I want to be able to have a bank account for my paychecks (for the lack of a better term) open, before putting the paychecks there. I want to know that it has somewhere to go.
I have checked my credit score and it always says "unavailable". And I am 80% sure it's because I have no credit history.
Basically my question(s) are where can I find a bank account with these features that will accept my application? What are the steps I need to take to do this? What are the steps I need to take in general from here?

I think your best bet is to look at a local branch bank or credit union. There are plenty of "NO FEE" checking accounts out there. My local credit union is free checking with an attached savings account(min savings balance is a $10 bill). If no luck on your own, you may need to setup a joint account with a parent just to get you rolling. this is a great way for them to give you your spending money, book money etc.. they can just transfer direct to your account.
just walk into a branch, tell them your situation, and make sure you do not accept an account that has recurring fees of any kind. there are lots of good salesman in the world, don't feel the pressure to say yes.
best of luck on your adult journey!
