Hospital bill in collects and now the insurance wants to pay

There was an error on the hospital bill, they wrote $31 instead of $313. My bill ended up in collects but now the insurance company acknowledges its mistake.

What should I do? I fear that the company of collects or the insurance scam me. Should insurance pay me or negotiate with collects?

Thanks for the help. I am an international student and I don't know how to handle this situation.

  The hospital should recall it from collections, which will remove it from your report. Then, they will rebill insurance

  If you tell the hospital you absolutely will not pay, but the insurance will, they'll jump at the chance to get payment.

  DO NOT accept direct payment, this will leave it on your report AND you will still be liable for the difference between the allowable amount and the cash price.

  I have been asking the hospital for help but they refuse because this happened two years ago.

   

  Now my question is ... should I ask the insurance company for a check and pay the collect company or does the insurance company have to pay the collect company directly?

   

  I greatly appreciate your help, I feel frankly helpless on these issues.
