Who owns items bought with credit card?
Late father was the owner of a Chase card He gave "authorized" user privileges to his girlfriend. They lived together in Florida, which does not recognize common law marriage or cohabitation. The owner of a Chase card, my father, is responsible for all bills and any failure to pay hurt his credit. If Dad defaulted on the card, his girlfriend, as only an "authorized" user would not be liable for the debt or would it impact her credit score.
Dad left all tangible personal property to me and my sister. Girlfriend is saying that she owns all the furniture, stove, fridge, etc... because she bought it. She was buying it for the house in which my father lived with her. I inherited the house, I was on the title before he met her and Dad put me on the title so there would be no probate.
She had a monthly spending amount she could use for her own things she wanted.
Bottom line - in the state of Florida, who "owns" the things bought with the credit card?
