Homeowner Insurance Quotes - Useless, Uncompetitive
Your homeowner insurance "6 best companies" and quote comparisons via Hippo are a joke...
My current insurer has quoted me less than $1100 for renewal. Hippo is showing me "bamboo" (whoever that is) at $1850, Delos (whoever that is) at $2605, and Universal (whoever that is) at $1275.
Your own homeowner insurance rate calculator tells me that the average homeowner insurance rate in my zipcode is $1095.
In other words, the NerdWallet/Hippo quotes are gouging quotes, not better deals. How does that serve people wanting to save money?
If $1095 is the average in my zipcode, then obviously there are many insurance companies who quote LESS than that! Why are you recommending to me only companies that charge MUCH MORE THAN THAT???
Thanks for nothing.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Insurance rates can vary widely, and it's important to shop around. Have you considered getting quotes from other companies or checking with the Unemployment Insurance Fund like UIF?

Thanks for the thought, Josef, but I think my post shows you that I do a lot of "shopping around" and comparing various insurance providers. That's how it became obvious that NerdWallet is simply selling overpriced insurance products, not providing useful consumer information.
I have no idea what UIF is good for, but I'm not unemployed, I'm retired.
