I have 130,000 Chase Saphire Preferred points and 150,000 United Miles. I want to purchase tickets for a United flight. Does it make more sense to transfer my chase rewards to United and use the combined points? Or, should I buy the ticket using the Chase card and travel portal? Then use the reward points to erase the cost? I assume that would then give me United Miles and 5 time miles for Chase.

  Thanks for posting to the NerdWallet Community Forum. It sounds like you're having difficulty deciding which of two different transactions would be the most valuable to you. In this case, it seems that the best sources of information should be Chase and United... I suggest contacting them both and asking your question to each company. That should provide the most accurate information to help you decide.
