Avis Preferred program
Hi I Have been a Avis preferred program member for over 7 years. However, I learned only a month ago that I have not been getting points for all my rentals... I had to sign up to get any points and only going forward.
Does anyone have any experience w/ Avis on going back the past 6 months or year to ask them to add these rental points onto my account? I know the know jerk answer from them will be 'sorry, you need to sign up'. I must have assumed it was like a frequent flyer program and points were the purpose of the program and you didn't have to sign up seperately.
Any advice is appreciated before I make the call.

We think it may be worthwhile to visit this page https://www.avis.com/en/loyalty-profile/avis-preferred to see if you can find any information that pertains to your situation. The information on that page seems to indicate that you are awarded 100 points per rental as a Preferred member, but it also mentions blackout dates.
If you can find a contact email address for a president or vice president on the Avis web site, sending them a message with your request may produce better results than calling a general customer service number. Also, you could try visiting an Avis branch in person and speaking to the manager.
We hope you're able to negotiate some bonus points!
