NerdWallet offers several methods to log in to your account:
-
Some older accounts have an email and password login method.
- This will also require Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) using either a text message (SMS) or an authenticator app.
- You are encouraged to generate recovery codes in case you replace your phone or change your number.
-
Most NerdWallet accounts now use passwordless authentication.
- To log in with passwordless authentication, enter your email in the login field, then you'll receive a 6-digit code in your email inbox to use as a one-time password (OTP).
- You may also have a second factor (either text or authenticator app) associated with your passwordless login account. This works the same for passwordless login accounts as it does for email/password login accounts.
- You are encouraged to generate recovery codes in case you replace your phone or change your number.
-
NerdWallet also offers Google auth and Apple auth ("Sign in with Apple") as account login methods.
- Using your Google or Apple account to authenticate and log in to your NerdWallet account can be simple and convenient.
- Second-factor / MFA via SMS or Authenticator app may be required on these accounts as well, especially for access sensitive areas of the app.
- You are encouraged to generate recovery codes in case you replace your phone or change your number.
