Why Did I Receive an Email from NerdWallet?
Receiving an unexpected email from a service like NerdWallet can be confusing. This article will explain the common reasons you might have received such an email and the steps to resolve the issue.
TL;DR: If you have a NerdWallet account you don't want, you can close it by logging in and choosing SETTINGS > CLOSE MY ACCOUNT.
In order to close your account, you'll need to log into the account first. That process may vary depending on how your account was created.
- If you compared or checked insurance rates, you would have created an account when you clicked the green "SEE MY MATCHES" button. You'll need to set a password so you can log in. Click here to set a password.

If you clicked "Continue with Apple" or "Continue with Google" in the upper right corner of the website, click here to go to the login page and choose the same option to log in as you used to sign up. No password is needed in this case.
- If you searched for a loan, create a password using the Forgot your password? option.

Form Submission for Personalized Insurance Quote/Information:
If you filled out a form or series of questions on the NerdWallet website to see personalized insurance quotes or information, you may have created an account in the process when "SEE MY MATCHES" was clicked. -

Clicked Continue with Apple or Continue with Google:

Email Address Mistake:
Someone might have accidentally entered your email address while attempting to sign up for NerdWallet. This can happen when the person mistyped their own email address.
What You Can Do:

- If you searched for a loan, create a password using the Forgot your password? option.
- If you sought an insurance quote, click the login button in the email you received and follow the SMS or authenticator app instructions. You won't need a password; your SMS or authenticator app will serve to secure the account.
To close your account from the NerdWallet app
- For Apple devices: Tap the circle icon in the upper left-hand corner.
- For Android devices: Tap the circle icon in the upper right-hand corner.
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll down toward the bottom and tap Close My Account.
- Tap Yes, Close.
To close your account from a web or mobile browser
- Log into your NerdWallet account here.
- Click on this link, which will take you to the Settings section of your account.
- Scroll down toward the bottom of the page, where you'll see a red link that says, Close my account.
- Click on "Close my account", then click Yes, close my account.

If you have a NerdUp by NerdWallet credit card, closing your NerdWallet account will also remove your access to your NerdUp card account. Closing your NerdWallet account WILL NOT close your NerdUp account, but you will lose access to your NerdUp account.
