Regularly reviewing your credit report to make sure it’s accurate and up-to-date is an important part of maintaining a healthy credit score. If you see an account on your credit report that you don’t recognize, it’s time to do some research.
To find out more about a company or mark listed on your report, we recommend doing a quick online search for the company’s full name and contact information using the information found on your report. You can search by the exact abbreviation you’re seeing on your credit report to bring up this information. Then you may need to contact the company directly for more information about your account with them.
If you discover that the account is with a debt collector, please read this guide carefully before contacting them.
If you discover that the account that’s being reported does not belong to you, you can file a formal dispute with TransUnion to have it removed from your credit report. You can learn more about the dispute process here.
