The process for changing your email varies depending on the way you're accessing your NerdWallet account, as well as the way you signed up with us. Please review the sections below to find the instructions that apply to you.
If you are using NerdWallet on a web browser
- Head to the settings section of your account.
- In the Edit Profile tab, scroll down to the Change Account Email section (you'll find this at the bottom of the page).
- Enter your new email address and current password.
- Click Change Email Address.
If you are using the NerdWallet mobile app
- Tap the circle menu icon in the top right-hand corner.
- Tap Settings, then Personal Info.
- Next to the email address field, Tap Edit.
- Enter your new email address and current password.
- Tap Save.
If you signed up for NerdWallet using Apple authentication
- A member of NerdWallet's support team will first need to de-link the Apple authentication within our system. Please send a message to support@nerdwallet.com letting us know that you'd like to change your email and that you used Apple authentication to sign up. We'll help you out with this ASAP.
- Next, you'll want to remove the NerdWallet app from your Apple authorization by following these steps:
- First make sure you're logged into your NerdWallet account with your Apple ID.
- Go to the iOS Settings app
- Tap Apple ID/Name
- Tap Password & Security
- Tap Apps Using Your Apple ID
- Select NerdWallet
- Tap Stop Using Apple ID
After completing the steps above, you should be able to set a password for your NerdWallet account.
To set a password in the app
- Tap the circle icon in the upper right-hand corner.
- Tap Settings > Password.
- Enter your desired password and tap Change.
To set a password on the NerdWallet website
- Move your cursor over My NerdWallet in the upper right-hand corner and click on Password, under My info.
- Under Password, enter your desired password and click Set Password.
After setting your password, you'll be able to change your email address by following the steps outlined in the instructions at the top of this article.
You should also know:
- You'll be required to create a password for your account before you can change your email address, if you haven't done so already - for example, if you used Google or Apple to sign up.
- Registering for a NerdWallet account enrolls you in certain emails.
